2025 British Grand Prix Race Highlights Top Moments and Analysis

Lando Norris claimed his first-ever victory at the British Grand Prix in a dramatic and rain-hit race full of incidents at Silverstone.

According to Motorsport on Monday (7/7), Norris took advantage of a 10-second penalty handed to his teammate Oscar Piastri to take the lead and hold onto it until the finish line.

Piastri received the penalty after being deemed to have violated the rules during the end of the safety car period.

He was seen accelerating before the restart and then suddenly slowing down, which was considered dangerous to other drivers. The penalty was served during his final pit stop, giving Norris the opportunity to overtake and take the lead.

Although Piastri put pressure on towards the end of the race and suggested McLaren allow them to race each other, the team chose to maintain the current order.

Norris went on to extend his lead and secure a historic home victory, while Nico Hülkenberg achieved his first-ever Formula 1 podium after 239 race starts.

The German driver impressed with a well-timed pit stop strategy when the rain began, then overtook Lance Stroll in the DRS zone to claim third place, and held off pressure from Lewis Hamilton until the finish.

The race was chaotic from the start due to the wet track. Several drivers, including George Russell and Charles Leclerc, opted to change tires at the end of the formation lap, hoping the wet sectors would dry quickly.

Two Virtual Safety Car periods occurred due to incidents involving Liam Lawson and Gabriel Bortoleto. Oscar Piastri showed strong pace, overtaking Max Verstappen to take the lead after the restart. Verstappen later lost his position after sliding off, allowing Norris to move into second and eventually the lead after Piastri's penalty was served.

Verstappen eventually finished fifth after recovering from the incident and overtaking several drivers, including Pierre Gasly and Stroll.

The top 10 was completed by Gasly, Stroll, Alexander Albon, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell in a thrilling race from start to finish.
