A viral video circulating on social media captures the dramatic moment a house in Ruidoso, New Mexico, USA, was swept away by a flash flood.

The footage shows powerful, muddy floodwaters rushing through the area before carrying off a white-colored house. Several bystanders in the video can be heard reacting in shock to the scene unfolding before them.

"Oh my God," exclaims one person in the video.

Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford reported that landslides and gas leaks occurred in several homes that were either swept away or damaged by the flood. He also confirmed that rescue operations were underway in the affected area, according to NDTV.

The flooding in Ruidoso was triggered by extreme rainfall and the overflowing of the Rio Ruidoso River.

The U.S. National Weather Service reported that the river’s water level peaked at over 20 meters, submerging several bridges in the region.

The agency warned residents to stay safe and avoid traveling.

“A DANGEROUS SITUATION is unfolding in RUIDOSO!” the agency stated on X (formerly Twitter).

“FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY remains in effect! SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! DO NOT attempt to drive through flooded roads. The current can sweep away your vehicle!”

The flash floods didn’t just affect Ruidoso. Several areas in Texas were also hit, resulting in over 100 fatalities, with dozens of people still missing.
